French potato salad

I made this super tasty potato salad the other day. I had been looking around for the perfect recipe for a long time and I finally found it. I don’t like potato salads with mayo in them so the French stuff is yet again the best!

Here’s the recipe (makes about 4 portions):
1kg potatoes (preferably new potatoes)
1 red onion
1 dl fresh thyme
3 tbs capers
2 tbs vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp tarragon
2 tsp dijon mustard
3 tbs olive oil
2 tbs water
Boil the potatoes with the peel. Rinse in cold water and chop them into big chunks. Then shred the onion. Mix the onion, thyme and capers with the potatoes in a large serving bowl. Mix the remaining ingredients into a vinaigrette and pour it over the potatoes. Leave for a few minutes. Ready to serve!
I hope you like it, I thought it was delicious (and so did my mum and husband) :)

Films

Husband and I watch a lot of films, and especially love going to the cinema. This spring two films stood out in particular; The Descendants and What to expect. The first mentioned one was amazing, just the right amount of fun, depth and beauty. And Andreas loved that it was set in Hawaii (he spent 6 months there a few years ago). What to expect was kinda cheesy but we did laugh our butts off at times. No real depth in it but we really did enjoy it. So, if you have an evening free and would like to watch a film, I’d definitely recommend these.

Luggage

And so the time has come to buy a new suitcase as my old one is literally falling apart. It’s served me well these last five year though. Conveniently, a test was done recently in Swedish magazine “Råd & Rön” (Advice & Findings) on suitcases and one of the suitcases proved much better than the others: Samsonite Aeris Comfort. Hubby and I are interested and will definitely take a look at it!

Paris

Now we’re back from Paris and we had the most wonderful time. The weather forecast had threatened with rain and 13 degrees the whole weekend but when we got there it was sunny and warmish (around 20 degrees). It only rained sunday afternoon! I’m pretty obsessed with weather, I worry about it, get annoyed with it and dream about it most of the time (I like it hot and sunny and feel utterly cheated if a summer goes by without it), so needless to say – Sweden isn’t the best country to be living in then.. We’ll move as soon as an opportunity arrives ;) But, back to Paris – we had planned on just taking it easy, strolling around, visiting boulangeries and patisseries and soaking up the atmosphere of the city, and that’s just what we did. We did manage to visit a few of Paris’ landmarks too though, like La Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame (Andreas favourite) and Museé D’Orsay (in which I, unfortunately, was feeling unwell most of the time). I could still appreciate the works of the great impressionists though, which was the main reason to why we went there. I bought a beautiful print by Edgar Degas called “Le foyer de la danse à l’Opéra de la rue Le Peletier“. I’m usually a chocolate person, but I do love fruits and berries also, so while in Paris I had three tartelettes aux fraise.. so yummy (although I couldn’t resist a chocolate one as well!) Here are some pictures of our trip, if you’d like to see..

P.s. I also took the time to visit some French pharmacies (I’m a skincare/cosmetics junkie..) and found some interesting products (thisthisthisthis and this) which I’m eager to try out!
